Carol Spaziani is my wonderful, beautiful, and bright grandmother. I don't get to see her as much as I would like to, however when I do, we connect so perfectly. As I've grown older and more independent, my grandma realizes that we may actually be soul mates, which I cannot deny. She has been such a solid rock in my life, guiding me to independence and embracing women empowerment. She has been one of my biggest role models, as I can only aspire to someday be as successful and independent as she is. Her warm smile with her bright red lipstick is all someone really needs to get through a hard day. With her dedication to the things in life that she loves, her passion and light has never died - she works incredibly hard to keep up with her most favorite things in life, even within her retirement home in Iowa City, Iowa. Whenever I need a friend, I know my grandma is either just a phone call away, or even a short plane ride away. I dream of the nights where I sleep by her side in a similar twin bed to hers, all tucked away in her little apartment inside the assisted living home. Those are the nights that I will never forget, feeling warm, safe, and most importantly, blissful. Thank you Grandma, for being such a bright light in my life. I will always continue to spread your legend for the duration of my own life as well. I will continue to welcome all walks of life into my home as you always did in yours. Thank you for giving me my pride in education as I admire your hard-earned master's degree. Thank you for opening my eyes to the world of politics. Thank you for giving me my love for all things red, and all things artistic. Thank you for being YOU, and changing the world around you! I cannot express the amount of love that I have - my heart is forever holding an enormous amount of space for you!
