Family, friends, & people of Facebook...
Whether you were a fan of Avicii or not, you’ve probably heard about his recent death at 28 years of age. Recently his family came out with a statement announcing his death was due to suicide, and being a fan of Avicii since his rise to stardom, my heart sunk into my butt.
Whether this be Avicii, some random stranger in your neighborhoods, or someone you know close to your heart - as neighbors to all of humanity, this is something we need to bring to light immediately. I think it’s seriously important to recognize that people are struggling everywhere, even if they’re big name artists who seem to “have it all.”
Please - ask your neighbors daily how they’re doing, how they’re SERIOUSLY doing. And pay attention to the times where they may seem a little bit uneasy, or simply not themselves anymore.
Having serious depression and announcing that to the world is almost the same as if you were to announce you have a deathly illness like cancer. It’s one of the most vulnerable states the mind pulls us into... and depression (and all mental illnesses like it) enters into an abusive relationship with the person’s mind it took ahold of. It’s not easy to ask for help.
Pay attention to those you love, to those you see everyday, to those strangers around you, and even to the people who seem like everything is okay. Let us help our neighbors by recognizing their storms, owning that storm, and allowing it to pass.
Sometimes we all just need someone.
Warmly,
TSPAZ 🖤
